Malane Newman is a multi-talented professional artist that specializes in cartoon art and illustration,
or affectionately known as Toons. She’s been drawing cartoons since she has been walking, and has spent her
life mastering different cartoon styles; from Disney to South Park, and from Marvel to Mad Magazine.
Cartoon illustration is used today in every form of entertainment and advertising, like print, television and
the web. Malane Newman has demonstrated boundless imagination and has had experience drawing in various
styles for many of these mediums throughout her professional career.
Malane Newman has extreme passion for cartooning and teaches cartooning at a local art school in San Diego.
To share some of her passion for cartooning with you, she has developed some beginning training
lessons on how to draw Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto in profile, in full-face and full body construction. She has also made available some lessons from her Famous Character Drawing Classes. They are available,
free of charge, as online and downloadable drawing tutorials and famous character drawing tutorials.
Malane Newman currently holds the prestigious position of being the “first and only "female" lead illustrator” in the now, 55 year
history of PS Magazine (a 68-page monthly comic-book style publication produced and distributed to our
troops by the US Army). She has even designed Computer-Based Training
(CBT) using cartoons for companies like SBC.

Some of her contract projects have included; Marvel-style cartoon advertisements for Deloitte
Consulting, a greeting card for the San Diego Padres, bank pamphlets for Santel Credit Union, full front-page
cartoon illustration for the San Diego Weekly Newspaper, among many others.
Malane Newman’s cartoon artwork has even been published as Greeting Cards,
coloring books, and children’s books. There is even a line of T-Shirts
produced with her cartoon characters.
Comic art, cartoon art, and the study of animation have been Malane Newman’s first love and passion since
her birth. This passion and skill, of course, have carried over to traditional animation and
flash animation. She is active in cartoon-related affiliations and has
