Malane Newman is a professional freelance cartoonist for hire who draws cartoon art for children’s books, games, children’s food products and children’s consumer products. She recently completed a project as a colorist on Mattel’s Barbie; A Fashion Fairytale Storybook. Another completed project includes a new game called Fill in the Bleep by Talicor whereas Malane did the character design of the game characters and the consumer packaging. She recently completed a cartooned farm scene with children and cartoon animals which were used on milk containers targeted towards the children’s audience. Malane Newman’s work also appears in a number of periodicals that include greeting cards, children’s books, magazines, newspapers and many other products. She has also designed and developed an animated cartooned website for a line of children’s clothing and animated children’s story for use on an educational website.
Although, Malane’s personal style is liken to the Disney-style, she is extremely versatile and can match most cartooning styles like Marvel, Nickolodeon, Hanna Barbera, and Japanese Anime or Manga as it is formally known, and many others. Malane Newman is a member of SCWBI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and a long-time member of the NCS (National Cartoonists Society) and SCCS (Southern California Cartoonists Society). Malane Newman is a credentialed teacher and has taught both public and private classes in general cartooning techniques, Manga (Japanese Anime), and famous character cartooning.
